A pattern we have noticed over the last two years — Jain families who travel to Palitana for the Shatrunjaya yatra often want to add a Statue of Unity stop on the way back. Geographically it makes sense. Palitana to Vadodara is 280 km, and Kevadia (where the statue stands) is 90 minutes south of Vadodara. Distance and drive time
Palitana to Vadodara directly is 280 km, about 5 to 5.5 hours on a clear day. We head west to Songadh, then north to pick up the Bhavnagar–Vadodara highway near Vallabhipur, then along the Ahmedabad–Vadodara Expressway from Tarapur onwards. The road is well-laid for about 80 percent of the distance; the rougher patch is between Vallabhipur and Tarapur.
How most pilgrims plan it
- Day 1 morning — climb Shatrunjaya, descend by 1 PM, rest at the dharamshala
- Day 1 afternoon — leave Palitana by 2 PM, reach Vadodara by 7:30 PM, overnight stay
- Day 2 morning — drive to Kevadia (90 minutes), spend 4 hours at the statue and tent city
- Day 2 afternoon — return to Vadodara, catch the late evening train or onward connection

Kevadia opens at 8 AM. The viewing gallery inside the statue is the main draw; entry is ₹150 for adults, ₹90 for children. Book online a day ahead to skip the entry queue — the on-spot line can easily run 90 minutes during weekends and holidays. The cable car and the Valley of Flowers walk are good optional add-ons if your group has the energy.
