Palitana to Ahmedabad cab: the post-yatra ride, route and fixed fare
Most pilgrims who come to Palitana climb Shatrunjaya in the morning, descend by mid-afternoon, and then face the question every yatra ends with — what is the easiest way to Ahmedabad from here. We do this ride almost daily for Jain families, often for travellers heading to catch a flight out of Ahmedabad airport the same evening. Here is what to expect.
Distance and drive time
Palitana to Ahmedabad is around 215 km by road. A clean run takes about 4 to 4.5 hours; with a meal stop, plan for 5. The road heads west to Songadh, picks up NH-51 just before Vallabhipur, and is the same Bhavnagar–Ahmedabad highway from there. The pickup from Palitana is usually from the foot of Shatrunjaya, your dharamshala, or the bus stand — whichever is easier after the climb.
When to leave
If you have descended by 1 PM, leaving Palitana by 2 PM gets you to Ahmedabad by 6:30 — well in time for dinner. For a 9 PM Ahmedabad flight, an earlier 12 noon departure is safer. For overnight Mumbai or Delhi flights, we have driven pilgrims who finish the climb in the morning, rest at a dharamshala till 5 PM, and then drive through to reach the airport by 10. The road is empty after dark and the drive is quick.
What we charge
Our fixed one-way Palitana to Ahmedabad fare is ₹4,000 for a Hyundai Aura or Swift Dzire sedan, ₹4,500 for a Maruti Ertiga, and ₹5,500 for a Toyota Innova Crysta. All fares are inclusive of fuel, tolls, parking, driver bhatta and GST. There are no extras at the end of the ride. For Jain pilgrims travelling in groups of five or more, the Ertiga is usually the right call — full luggage room and enough seats for the family.
Where we stop on the way
- Vallabhipur — first big petrol pump and washroom break, 45 minutes out of Palitana
- Bagodara crossing — long-standing dhaba on the highway; many Jain travellers prefer a quick chai-only stop here
- Sarkhej — last clean stop before entering Ahmedabad, useful if you need to freshen up
Combining with the airport
Ahmedabad airport is on the north-east side of the city, about 30 minutes past Sabarmati Riverfront. If your flight is the same day, share the timing when booking — we will plan a single Palitana to airport ride and you do not need to switch cabs in Ahmedabad. We have driven enough late-evening pilgrim drop-offs to Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad flights to know the route by heart.

Can we stop at a Jain temple en route? Yes — Vallabhipur has small temples on the way and a brief stop adds nothing significant to the time or fare.
