Bhavnagar to Ahmedabad by cab: route, real timings, and what we charge

Bhavnagar to Ahmedabad is the route we run more than any other — corporate trips on Monday mornings, families with airport flights at odd hours, weekend getaways for the kids' birthdays at Kankaria. After ten years on this stretch we know the road, the toll plazas and the chai stops better than the highway itself does. Here is how a trip actually goes if you book with us.
How long does it really take
On paper the distance is 215 km. The official map will tell you four hours; the truth is anywhere between 3 hours 45 minutes and 5 hours depending on the time of day. If you leave Bhavnagar at 6 AM, we will usually have you at Sabarmati Riverfront before 10. Leave after 9 AM and Bagodara starts to back up with trucks — add 30 to 40 minutes. Returning from Ahmedabad on a Sunday evening between 6 and 8 PM is the only window we genuinely warn customers about. Plan around it or you will spend an hour stuck near Vatva.
The route — turn by turn
We pick you up from anywhere in Bhavnagar — Subhash Nagar, Krishnagar, Bortalav, the airport, your hotel. From there it is straight onto NH-51 heading north-west. The road opens up properly after Vallabhipur and stays good all the way to Bagodara, where the highway splits — left for Rajkot, right (and slightly older) for Ahmedabad. We stay right. Past Bagodara the toll comes up at Limbdi-Bavla, then it is a clean run into Sarkhej and into the city.
Where we usually stop
- Vallabhipur — petrol, washroom, ten-minute leg-stretch if you are with elderly passengers
- Bagodara crossing — the famous chai-and-bhajiya stall on the right just before the flyover; most of our drivers stop here without being asked
- Sayla or Limbdi — only on longer Ertiga or Innova trips, for a proper meal break
What we charge
Our fixed one-way Bhavnagar to Ahmedabad fare is ₹2,500 for a Hyundai Aura or Swift Dzire (sedan, 4 passengers), ₹3,000 for a Maruti Ertiga (six seats, good for families with luggage), and ₹5,000 for a Toyota Innova Crysta (seven seats plus space for a stroller, golf bag or extra suitcases). The fare is all-inclusive — fuel, tolls, driver bhatta, parking, GST. We do not add anything at the end. If you need a return on the same day we run a separate round-trip rate; ask on WhatsApp and we will quote.
Booking the airport leg
Ahmedabad Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport sits on the north-east side of the city, about 30 minutes past Sabarmati Riverfront. If your flight is at 6 AM, we recommend leaving Bhavnagar by 1 AM — the road is empty, the temperature is bearable, and our drivers stay alert because they are used to night runs. We have handled enough 4 AM departures to Mumbai and Delhi to know exactly when to leave; tell us your flight time and we will work backwards.
Honest tip from our side: leaving 90 minutes earlier than you think is always cheaper than re-booking a missed flight.
Coming back — small detours you can add
Some of our regulars stop at Adalaj Stepwell on the way out of Ahmedabad on the return leg — it is a 15-minute detour from NH-48 and free to enter. Others do an early morning visit to Akshardham in Gandhinagar before heading back. We do not charge extra for either as long as the total drive stays under 250 km. Just mention it when you book so we can plan the driver's day.
Common questions
Do you have a child seat? We carry a forward-facing seat on request — please mention it when booking, no extra charge. Can the driver double up as a city guide in Ahmedabad? Some of our drivers know Manek Chowk and the Heritage Walk well; ask and we will send the right person. Is there a luggage limit? On a sedan, two large suitcases plus cabin bags. The Ertiga comfortably handles four large suitcases. The Innova will take a small family's worth of luggage with room to spare.
